[Good evening, Johto! It...seems that your resident mouthpiece for Peace and Love has finally found something that's quite frankly annoying the living crap out of him. It's not terribly difficult to see why; he's got a little fluff of a Swablu in one arm, an Unfezant just barely in the shot from where it's standing on the ground nestling its face into his side, and both of them are doing whatever the avian equivalent of "wailing inconsolably" is.

And contrary to whatever Squirt believes, having a Chinchou clinging to his shoulders curiously doesn't seem to be helping matters any.

He kind of huffs a bit before addressing the 'Gear.]

Now, first of all, to the gentleman who poisoned the well in Azalea Town - and I use the term 'gentleman' very, very lightly in your circumstance: I don't care what your stance is on individual challenges. You will be battled eventually. Given your stance on pacifists, I would think you would take the chance for such an easy victory. Try to teach me a lesson, if you like, but I will fight you one day.

[...he's been down there trying to hold every Slowpoke but he cannot hold every Slowpoke, etc.]

Secondly. Should you have two creatures that can't stand each other, and releasing or permanently boxing one isn't an option, what would you recommend doing about it?

[Basically, his life, his choices, his...birds. ffs, his birds get along better with his bugs than they do each other.

orz]

Thank you for your time.

[It's been a month full of crises, it seems; Zulf has been aware of the attacks, of the assaults on civilians and gyms and the Centers, and out of all of that, it's the last one that angers him most. And then there were the mutations, the illnesses, things that couldn't be fought with words or actions, leaving him feeling rather useless, all things considered.

And then had come proof that whomever had said that bad things happened in threes hadn't been wrong; the third crisis was of a far more personal nature. Zulf supposed it was selfish to allow the personal issue to cut him far more deeply than the attacks against Johto as a whole; however, he found that it was something that he couldn't help.

He allowed himself to be useless for a short while afterwards, to give himself time to recover, to not be rash; following that period, he had returned to Goldenrod City and found work immediately, among all the people that were still alive and not burnt to ashes where they stood - how long would it be before Zia could see something like this again? - and the buildings that seemed a bit too tall to be real. It was what he did when he didn't know what else to do - he threw himself into his work, whatever that may happen to be in his current location.

Today, though, he's distanced himself from all that a bit, sitting in one of the open squares near the northern side of town, close to Route 35; the park is small but nice, and he's sitting on one of the benches occupying the edge of it, in rather plain sight. There are several Pokemon playing in the grass; some are his, some aren't, but they all seem to be getting along rather well; he glances up once in a while to see what they're doing, but for the most part he seems rather content with what he's looking at, and he's rather comfortable diverting his attention back to the 'Gear, on which he's been tapping out a message to send to the network. He shifts a bit once in a while, allowing his leg to brush up against the large bag at his feet as though checking to make sure it's still there, but it's not an anxious motion, though the text itself seems to be taking a while to set up.]

For those that knew her, Zia is no longer in Johto. May she feel Mother's love and protection in our home world. She liked creatures of all sorts and enjoyed taking care of them; now that she isn't here anymore, I would like to try to do so in her stead.

My name is Zulf; the Pokemon Centers are still down, but I have good numbers of Revives and Hyper Potions. I was not affected by the mutations, but I do not fear you if you were. Should you want to avoid the public healing center in town for that reason or any other and can't afford your own healing supplies, I can be found in Goldenrod City, near the route leaving town to the north. I'm told that I dress strangely/am hard to miss, and I always have at least a Scolipede out in the area with me (her name is Hanako, she is friendly and will not try to eat you). I'll try to be there in the evenings for as long as I'm needed.

[And with that out of the way, he'll be returning to...whatever he's been doing on that bench; it appears to be playing with a few rather large skeins of string, braiding them together in what appear to be bracelets of some sort while he waits.]
leaveyourstarburning: (Someday your bird is going to fly)
[Zulf finds it easier to post at night, away from the bustle of daily activity; it feels far less like he's shouting over everyone else, and more like he can just speak his mind.

He's kept mostly to himself today, distancing himself from Zia and simply spending long periods of time sitting alone near one of the small streams winding its way through the trees, allowing her to explore as much as she liked without nagging her to be careful; it was unlike him, perhaps, but he hadn't exactly been too open with his thoughts on the Bastion, either. The Calamity had sobered him a good amount; what had happened afterwards...well. It wasn't anything to be talked about, either.

He should be used to losing people by now; he isn't sure what to do with the fact that he probably never will be.

The feed hums alive to depict one of the routes, though it's difficult to tell which; there's a rather large magenta...mass behind him, curled up and appearing to be breathing - those that are familiar with Scolipede's coloring may recognize it. Zulf had simply found its ball among his belongings, taking up that sixth slot after he had finally given in and left one of the creatures he had obtained in the box, given that he didn't have the heart to keep it in the ball when it was within plain sight and that hadn't been an option around his previous company.

He had scanned it with the PokéDex, as he had been instructed to; its name was Hanako.

Original Trainer...]

I don't know how many others here knew this man; for those that did, Kariya Matou is no longer in Johto.

He will be missed greatly; may he feel Mother's love and protection, even now that he's returned to his home world.

[And that is, quite frankly, all.]
leaveyourstarburning: (Now you'll never be lonely)
[Darkness has fallen over Johto when Zulf's feed flickers on; it isn't too late, but the sun has more than set. The location itself seems to be a secluded one, surrounded by trees shielding it from any signs of civilization, if there are even any cities around to begin with.

However, the camera is focused on a light source - a vast array of twinkling lights, more than can be counted, that seem to be coming from a great distance away. Those that are a bit more astronomically-inclined may recognize several of the major constellations; wherever he is, the view of the sky is beautiful, untainted by artificial light or other pollution.

He films it for a little while before the night sky vanishes, all those little pinpricks of light melding together in a blur as he turns the camera back toward himself. Despite all the darkness, he's actually visible on the feed; Squirt seems to have contented herself sitting in his lap, the soft glow from her antennae flickering up and illuminating his features.

He's smiling a little, though the expression isn't exactly joyful; like last time, the smile doesn't quite reach his eyes, though it's in a way that's more melancholy rather than untrustworthy.]

I've heard that the night sky makes some feel insignificant - something to do with how vast it is, and how completely untouchable it seems. But I've always found that comforting - that no matter what we do or how many mistakes we make, the stars will always be a constant.

[That smile shifts into something warmer, decidedly more genuine. It's...odd, given the subject he's talking about; whatever he's thinking of, it probably isn't supposed to be something that one reflects on fondly, but it seems to please him in some way.]

In some ways, a little insignificance is a good thing, I think - it breeds humility, rather than arrogance; it allows for stability, rather than the uncertainty of complete responsibility. The knowledge that there's always something that you can never touch, that can never be harmed or destroyed or affected by anything you do...it's good knowledge to have.

Enough of that, though...it's a beautiful night. I'm outside of Azalea Town - there's a well surrounded by a stand of trees. Should you want someone to talk to, I'll be here for a while.

[...his social skills are flawless, I am telling you...]

...destroyed it entirely, did it...

[The words are muttered quietly over a mostly-dark feed; from the sound of it, the person speaking doesn't even seem to have realized they've managed to turn the Gear on - he sounds distracted, clearly speaking to himself rather than to any audience, and there's a good amount of jittercam action before he seems to realize that it's broadcasting.

The speaker is male, dark-haired and deathly pale; he's smiling a bit, but the expression doesn't reach his eyes at all. The look there isn't cruel, however; just rather lost.]

Is this how this works?

[His speech is a bit odd; it's in the common language spoken by all in Johto, but there's something there - a strangeness in pronunciation that indicates that he would have a hell of an accent in whatever world he just came from, as though he didn't grow up speaking whatever it is he's trying to utilize now. The statement is still oddly blank, though, as though he's addressing himself more than an audience; at least he doesn't seem to be expecting an answer - he simply checks something on the Gear before moving on.]

I understand that there are more survivors out there; from the look of it, there are many of you. I come to you seeking information - I mean you no harm, nor do I expect anything of you. [His gaze darts offscreen, focusing downward for a moment before he continues speaking.] This isn't anything like what I was told the Motherland would be; some of the machinery involved in transporting us may have taken some severe damage.

["May have." He uses the term lightly. He definitely knows it took damage of some sort; he broke the thing. He just doesn't know how severely he broke it; given that he's currently...nowhere near where he's supposed to be, he's assuming he broke it pretty spectacularly. He's a bit uncomfortable with the half-truth, though.

...that said, Zulf has seriously just informed all of Johto that he does, in fact, come in peace. There are some things that you just don't blatantly say...

However, he isn't dwelling on it; his gaze is darting downward again. Clearly there's something fascinating down there; he pauses for a moment before tilting the camera downward - there is a Chinchou rubbing against the lower half of his clothes, which appears to be a...very ugly skirt, if we're going to be honest.

Whatever it is, the Pokémon seems determined to love all over it; Zulf's tone has actually lightened a bit when he speaks, seeming much more comfortable now that he's not being focused on.]

Although, Motherland or not...it's good to see these creatures being so trusting. We've done enough to the rest of them.

[...someone please inform the guy that he's not in Kansas anymore.]
