Humans would call those people Earthmates, back in Norad. They're most associated with legends of the ancient past, so Johto itself has a very grand feeling from my perspective. Of course, trainers and Earthmates are very different in reality, and Pokemon have their differences from monsters, but...well. It's no less impressive.
